I learned from Wylie's Mom that some mucus at the end of the stool can be a sign of them expressing their anal glands in a normal, healthy way. That sounds really likely here since he was scooting on his butt first. I'd keep a close watch on him for a day or two just to make sure he's feeling ok, but I don't think you need to worry just yet. It wasn't bloody was it?
