One of my Yorkies, Coco, is similar to this. Whenever we are outside in the front or back yard and he sees anyone passing by he growls and barks and pursues it until he gets close enough for his comfort to keep barking. If the people try to come close and pet him, that's when he gets shy or scared. Both of my Yorkies are not the friendliest with strangers and can be quite shy, especially with kids. They both do this but Coco is worse than Bacci. They aren't fixed but will be soon. They are also in puppy training classes with bigger dogs and don't seem to like to play with them too much. They just hide under the stools. They can be playful with our neighbor puppy who is about their size but not until after they bark at him for a while. Is this just their personality or can it be related to something else and fixed? They are playful and happy with us and are very well cared for and extremely loved. Have been since they were born. |
