Well, my Moka is a puppy mill puppy and she doesn't have the best coat either. There can be so many different variations thin, thick, cotton, silky, red leg, etc. I have often wondered about her thyroid too, but I think it is just her poor breeding. She eats well, acts happy and well, and as far as she's concerned, she's a diva! But, I don't ever have to worry about it matting and it looks as healthy as it can look for what she was born to work with.
