Congrats on your new baby. I am not very experienced but I too picked up my 6 week old pup last Friday. I agree she was far too young, wish I had found this board before I got her. Saturday was very scary, 1st the vet gave her too many shots and I think she may have been a bit hypoglycemic. I picked up nutrical and put it in her food and also got puppy replacement milk. Be careful, once they get used to either of those, mine doesn't want her own food, she prefers to hold out for the good stuff.
8 hours seems like a long time, I may worry too much but on the days I work I make sure my husband is in and out. I know that isn't possible for everyone but so young away from mom is kinda scary.
