I recommend putting a disposable wee wee pad inside the carrier. If you bring a couple extra, depending on the duration of the flight, the disposable pads are the right size for the floor of the bathroom plane if you need to let the puppy out. It also works great for quick disposal if there are any sickness issues.

Going through security you will be holding the puppy. Most airports will not allow a dog on a leash (or puppy) unless it is a service animal. I would recommend a harness for ID of some type just in case, but you won't need it for walking purposes.

If you purchase a bottle of water (once through security) with an screw top on it, most pups will drink out of the small screw-top lids when they won't out of a strange bowl. A small bully stick can also help entertail your pup during the flight.
