My older brother has a Rhodesian Ridgeback that is from working lines. She's about 115 pounds and man, that is one strong dog! My brother has an artificial hip and knee so I have to go over once in a while to let her chase me around and wrestle. Love the big dogs!! WOOF WOOF |
I believe I can handle one more, but perhaps instead of a Male, may go with a female, or a male that is more laid back as a pup. Training is the key, and with them, it is a lifetime event as they can be quite stibborn. Skates? No, that would be like jumping out of a car moving at 30 MPH into a brick wall. It has been a great experience with Carlo. Also, you can sleep well knowing he is on the job. If I get another, I would get him into tracking and Personal Protection, after a heavy 2 year socialization and off leash obedience.
I have been around a lot of large Mastiff breeds, and I can say with honesty, while Carlo is not the biggest, I have never had or seen a stronger one. Almost 11, battled Cancer, he can still jump a 5 foot feence, walk for miles, run, play, and obey. His best quality is protecting Maxine when she goes outside as we back up to a forrest preserve. You can't put a value on that.
