I spritz my pads with either vinegar/water (25% vinegar, 75% water, 10 drops essential oil of lavender, sometimes lemon) *OR* I use nature's miracle. I now add washing soda to the wash to get them very clean - all the smell comes out and they look nice and fresh. I store my pads outside in a plastic tub until I am ready to wash them. They are just in the tub on my porch (which is covered). I do not put a lid on the tub. I sometimes dont do laundry more than once a week and they will stink so I think it's better to keep them outside unless you're washing alot.
