Well I guess its happened to all of us with the cotton coats.
Edward has a cotton coat as well and I liked it long so his hair had never been cut but i slacked on the brushing a little in the summer and it matted and tangled really bad, so I took him to the groomer an luckily he did not have to get shaved but it was cut really short. Eventhough after cutting it I feel like I will be keeping it on the shorter side from now on. But I still brush him every 2 days or so.
