REDHONEY- We had a pit thread a few months back and I made the "jaw-lock" arguement and was RUDELY told by another member that that was an ignorant statement. I did research this a bit more and found out that it is a myth because their jaws are actually structured the same as any other breed. This is a very common misconception, though. I applaud you for sticking to your guns. We hear all the time about breeding for the correct temperment, and there is just no guarentee that the breeder from who you (or your bf) buys the dog is going to be as concerned with this as necessary. Not to mention the breeder from who he/she got the dogs parents... etc.

I would say keep the guy, and just have him pick another breed. It's great that he's dropped the pit idea. I've heard only great things about boxers. The holidays are coming up- if you get him a puppy you're giving him what he wants and still in control of the type of dog. I know they say live-animal gifts aren't a good idea, but if you live together, it's your dog, too.

Good luck in the puppy/breed search!!
