Don't feel bad. Mine wear collars for that same reason. They are fast and they love it outside. We can't stay outside as long as we want because of the extreme heat here in Florida, but we do go for walks and romp around the back yard. It only takes a second for them to dart out the front door when opened. My neighbor's yorkie has darted out several times and it's taken me to either open my front door or back gate to get her back. She just loves Ally, who is her best friend. It is not my neighbor's fault either. She has cancer and has had many family members visiting to care/watch over her and her yorkie. They just don't realize how fast that baby is! Collars are worn all the time and I put a harness on also when we go for walks/car rides. Mine do scratch at their collars every now and then, but have gotten used to them. It's for their safety and I wouldn't do any different! Don't feel bad!!!!
