I've seen this behavior on the Cesar Millan show and he gets the dogs out for walks together. Seems they bond when they are both doing the same thing that they love. They get in a very happy mood. Just make your daughters visits an outside event, like a long walk, eat outside and include the dogs, then another walk before she leaves, till you see the dogs actually playing with each other.
It's too difficult to be gruchy when there are fun things going on.
