There is a lot of great info on this site regarding the breed. I would suggest going through the threads and especially reading all the "stickies" at the top. Tons of info!
I mentioned before ytca.org as a great resource for reputable breeders and the stickies in this section give you tips of "red flags" to look for and stay away from when locating a breeder. Someone on here made the statement "buy your breeder first" and I think this is great advice.
The last thing you want to do is buy from a puppymill or BYB. So I think it's smart that you are going to start saving. It's not that you have to pay a fortune for a puppy, but you want to buy from someone who does all the proper testing, vet stuff, etc.. with their breeding program.
