However, when they were mixing breeds to create a certain type of breed, i.e. the yorkie, they would take some of the best specimens from each breed in which they researched the background of, and compared temperaments, coat types, size, and health. They were professional breeders that came together to try to create the perfect working breed for the job specified (catching rats)
The yorkie didn't come about by just throwing two random purebreds together and saying, "well thats a cute puppy, lets market it!" i.e. the Morkie or Yorktese or whichever way you prefer to name it.
