I first read Peyton Place when it was still considered trashy. I re-read it again many years later. It's a very interesting book that takes place in a small New England town. The author, Grace Metalious was a housewife with three kids who just decided to write a book. She wrote the sequel Return to Peyton Place a few years later.

Grace Metalious died from alcoholism at the age of 39. Her book sold millions of copies and in my opinion is a classic.
