I do not think she meant anything rude when she said that. She probably was only questioning that a vet would be more partial to someone with more dogs than someone with 1 dog. You were quick to jump down this person's throat. Why would you want to cause trouble?
She seemed genuinely concerned about Mitzi's problem. Take it down a notch.
