the prednisone will bring down the inflammation and control the symptoms however once reduced if the diet is not appropriate the symptoms will return. ibd dogs react well to a dietary change. usually grain free food is the best; wet is better than dry as it is less irritating. changing to a homecooked or raw food is best. in the begining a homecooked diet will be best to give the GI tract time to heal and rest. i fed mine ground turkey and oatmeal for 5 months. probiotics are crucial to help fight bad bacteria.
