A poll will NOT influence responsible breeders NOT to dock tails. This has been stated repeatedly, as long as AKC standard calls for tail docking it will be done! Pet quality or show quality makes no difference, a well bred Yorkie should be the best example of the breed standard! |
Do you all realize how easy it would be for the AKC standard to CHANGE? One or two sentences and it would be done. If the IRS manages to overhaul our tax code every few years, I would think the AKC could change the standard. In fact, I'll write the change here....all you AKC people have to do is CUT AND PASTE:
"All dogs born after (INSERT DATE HERE) will have tails intact."
By inserting the date, older dogs with docked tails and newer dogs with intact tails would both meet the breed standard....
