I have found they love the coolness of outdoor mulch around your house, especially if you have a lot of shrubs that keep the mulch damp.

UGH I hate those too and am terrified of them. Poor Tess, i know how she feels
I just hate them so much. I am not sure if this remedy works to kill waterbugs but for the little roaches it does work. Waterbugs def. do like damp and moist places. I notice I see them more in the summer when it is very hot and humid out. I only get occasional ones that come in thru the windows but try to kill them right away with the shoe..but they do sense when you are moving near them so it's hard to do so lol Ugh i get creeps just thinking of them!
