What you could do, is have some different colored items and place behind the dog and see how the color looks against it.
Red bow is now traditional but before that was orange.
Wear solid colors - patterns will detract from your pups outline - you want your dog to pop and not your shirt
The other thing is you could ask your professional photographer. I think a white shirt or so would not be good, maybe too much bouncing of light? It also depends on how you envision the dog in relationship to your body. Will you be holding the pup? Will pup be on the table and you behind it?
Look at Carlybaby;s album he had some formal pictures taken and they turned out fantastic.
That is the other thing, do you want a formal portrait, or a more relaxed and or natural setting?
Just some thoughts and considerations.
