I thought it was an odd question, too. Only because it was post #1.. I feel like this is a large party where friends and guests come and go. There is a buffet in the back 24/7, drinks, coffee, etc.... people mingle, chat, show off their kids' pictures, tell jokes, crack up...on and on
Once in awhile someone stumbles in the door, screams ""HELP! A stranger offered me an open can of soda to drink and I did and now I'm sick, this was the first open door I saw, help me""" and we try to figure out what is wrong. While some are calling the emts, others are in the back yelling "" why would you do something so stupid??"" others are giving advise, """turn her on her side"", ""make her throw up"" etc...
Eventually, she recovers and becomes part of our party. Or she stumbles back out the door, never to be seen again.
That is one type of introduction. The other one is what most of us do..
""Hi, I'm new here, let me tell you about my babies"" or ""Hi, I want to learn about Yorkies, and...""
But, to walk into the door and without so much as a handshake...

I'm not saying it's wrong..I just think that maybe why it was not quite accepted by some.
