Default urine smell

Boy do I love Charlie, but he's just awful on the training. It's hit or miss no matter what we do. He is now 7 months old. I'm okay that it's slow going.

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for getting the odor out. Most of my house is hardwood and tile so no problem. But my landing and stairs are carpeted and I have two area rugs, one a beautiful oriental. I'm wondering if I called Stanley Steemer if they'd get the stains and odors out? Anyone have suggestions?

I do use Natures Miracle but the problem is if it's not caught right away. The oriental is dark so the stains don't show. You can only treat it if you catch him.

I hate the thought of replacing the rugs until he's fully trained, but I'm embarrassed about the smell.

(I'm also open to purchasing a home vacuum that cleans pet stains as well as hiring someone.)

Any suggestions?
