Another Solution for Mats and Knots I would like to offer another solution for mats and knots that works for me and my little Tatiana. I'm unsure if this solution was offered before, so I'm suggesting it in case it was never bought up.
I used a mini personal trimmer (for humans) that's for nose, face, ears, and other personal areas. It's shaped like a pen, and it runs on a small battery. It can be found in drugstores, like Target and Rite Aid. I think it runs around $10 or so.
I chose this solution because I find it to be gentle on Tatiana and my fingers. As some of you may know, the personal trimmer does not hurt skin. Also, the personal trimmer is small enough to deal with Tatiana's small knots. Many detanglers and mat removers I found were too large for Tatiana. She's 3 lbs, and her knots are small.
To clarify, I would only use the trimmer as a last resort, when a stubborn knot would not come out with combing. In this instance, I would use the personal trimmer. I would hold the knot or mat with my fingers, and gently comb the trimmer through it, until it comb out. The trimmer would remove some hair, but generally, no length. Sometimes I have to make a few passes. It's quick and gentle on Tatiana.
Oh. I use the trimmer WITHOUT attachments. It works best for Tatiana without the attachments, and it's still gentle to her skin.
Hope this helps. |
