I don't think your bad by any means because that's exactly
what I used to do. I don't really have any solutions for you
except to say all it took was a friend of mine telling me to
think about if I had an accident and he was unrestrained.
He could possibly be killed by the air bag impact or worse
get out of the car completely and be ran over because he
was scared. I went out the next day and bought a seat as
I didn't like the picture of either scene in my head. I really
felt he would hate my new idea, but he loves it and it makes
me feel much better traveling with him now.
