Poppy is lucky to be in loving home now!
Is puppy mill/puppy farm nice word? puppy farm doesn't sound too bad. Should have used ugly word.
I have no idea Wales is the main puppy mill. What a shame it's like that almost everywhere in the world. How did it start? Because of WWII? I remember my parents adopted the first dog from the pound but they gave him away to a friend (don't know why) then we got another one from the pound. That mutt was so smart, sadly, he got killed when my dad accidentally ran him over at night. He was not aware of Blacky following him into the garage. the 3rd was from pet store. We never saw a dachshund & my mom fell in love with the breed. All dogs, only three dogs we had were from pet stores. We were not aware about puppy mills until AOL went unlimited in '96. There were not many pictures & it didn't get to me until few years later.[/QUOTE]

If you didnt know about puppymills, then you are not to blame for buying from pet stores. Its when people are aware, but still go ahead and buy, thats its very wrong.
I think Wales is the main puppyfarm area because its mainly countryside and its easy to have a big shed or barn full of dogs and pups without anyone knowing. No neighbours for miles around etc.
Also, the councils there dont make it illegal. One of the ways to show your disapproval is to stop holidaying in the worst areas...hit the tourist trade where it hurts. Its tiny steps, but better than nothing. We have lots of protests outside the few petstores that still sell dogs...again, mainly in the north of England and Wales area.
