 Milli's Big Sister, Skye
Meet Skye! We adopted Skye just a couple months before we adopted Milli. They're about 2 months apart in age...8 months and 6 months. Skye is a pit bull/german shepherd mix or thereabouts...hard to say.
Skye and her littermates were found in a dumpster during the cold months of January. They were taken to the animal shelter, fostered out, brought up to date on healthcare and then Skye was ready for adoption. We fell in love with her the moment we saw her.
We brought her home though, and within a couple days she was vomiting and having diarrhea. We thought that she might be having an upset stomach because we switched her food. Over the course of two days time she went from playful and happy to lethargic and very sick. We rushed her to the animal emergency hospital where they broke the terrible news...she had parvo! She had somehow contracted it prior to her adoption despite the dose or two that she'd had in her vaccinations.
Without any thought, we told them to do whatever was necessary to save her. She was in intensive care with round the clock care for 3 days. They pulled her through the worst of it and we were able to bring her back home. It took well over a month of special care to get her digestive system back in working order but she survived and is our little Easter miracle pup! We adore her!
Skye is such a wonderful big sister to Milli. Despite the fact that Skye is larger than Milli we've noticed that she's perfectly gentle when necessary and controls her play so as not to hurt her little sister. Milli absolutely adores her. She waits anxiously at the bedroom door every morning...when we open it she bolts through the house to Skye's crate so she can greet her favorite playmate!
