How in the world do I socialize a puppy before it's old enough to go to 'puppy kindergarten?'

Bailey's 12 weeks old and so far is doing well with meeting strangers, ect, but I've read that toy breeds need MORE than an average amount of socialization than other breeds. We also have a ddb, but he was 4 months old when we got him and put him into puppy class right away. I have another 4 weeks before Bailey can get into a training class, so I'm wondering what I can do until then? Or is this not important right now? We don't have many people coming by the house and I live in a pretty small town with a very strict 'no pets allowed' rule at stores. The only place I can take him with me is the pet store, but I don't go in there often. And the petco that's near us doesn't have any dog classes. We don't have a dog park either. Any suggestions?
