As everyone said, an all-life-stages dog food works well when you have an adult and a puppy. Rio (1 1/2 years old) and Bullet (6 months) both love Canidae all-life-stages. Please be careful about letting your adult Yorkie eat puppy food. We were feeding Bullet Origen puppy food but had the same problem with Rio eating the puppy food. Well, she's a tiny adult (3 lbs) and the puppy food was way to high in protein and fat for her - she ended up having very bad pancreatitis and had to be hospitalized overnight. Now that we feed them both Canidae, everyone is happy and healthy.
As for potty training, you might want to stick with just one method so you don't confuse the puppy. You may find that your adult doggie regressing in their potty training if they find any "accidents" in the house. Rio and Bullet are trained to go outside, but at first, Rio had regressed a bit and had a few accidents in the kitchen because Bullet had had accidents in the kitchen earlier.
I know that at first when you get your second Yorkie, you think, "what have I gotten myself into?!!!!" but after things settle down, you'll find it's the best thing you've ever done! I sure think so! |
