Aleve is Naproxen, a Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. Low dosages are used in dogs to treat swelling/pain.

But it's easy to get a toxic amount of the drug. Like all NSAIDS, it can cause stomach bleeding and lead to kidney damage.
