I need to vent!!!!

Oliver is a hard dog. He's a rescue and has issues! He is making progress everyday, but will ALWAYS be a hard dog. I've accepted it - he loves me despite my flaws, both physical and emotional, why should I judge him????

Oliver HATES men. Hates em. Haven't found one he likes yet. It's apparent that some sick demented man out there beat the crap out of him somewhere along the line. He freaks out anytime a man so much as moves let alone speaks. Water in the face is helping a bit, but his fear outweighs his hate of the water, most times.

My brother turns to me one day, after Oliver had a barking fit because my brother got off his chair (granted, annoying... I hate it, but it won't go away overnight), and says "If that dog were mine, I'd put it to sleep. He's way too stressful". I turned to my jerk of a brother and said "Well Oliver has caused me a million times LESS stress throughout his life than you have through yours, so perhaps I should put YOU to sleep and call it a day!".

Seriously, WHO says stuff like that to people????? He was the type that babied his dogs until he had children... now his attitude is that if they get in the "way" he'll put them to sleep!!!! When he said that, I said "What, too lazy to find them a new home? When your kids get in the "way" you gonna have them put down too??".

Needless to say I'm glad at the moment that he lives 2000 miles away. Thanks for the vent!
