My vet prefers to keep animals overnight after spay even though there is no 24 hour monitoring. I refuse to leave her unattended the evening of her surgery so I informed him that I would be bringing her home this evening. He was fine with that. Does anyone have any tips on how I can make her evening of recovery as comfy as possible? Is there a special way I need to hold her when taking her potty to minimize discomfort? I just want to make sure she has as little discomfort as possible. Thanks!!!
Rio was just 2.8 lbs when she was spayed, so I'm sure your baby will be just fine. When you pick her up, just av oid her tummy/incision by holding her under her front armpits with one hand and scooping up her bottom with your other hand. She'll be pretty groggy when you bring her home - that's normal. She may shake or be cold - again, common after anesthesia. Just keep her warm. She probably won't eat much until the next day. Sending fast-healing prayers!
