I have only sold one puppy (from Rainbow's Litter,,,Sonny's brother) and I sold him to someone I have known for several years.. (a fellow bear artist) who already had 2 male yorkies. Even though I knew her pretty well, I still asked for her vets name and number (although I did not call) to have on record. In my contract, I required that she nueter the puppy and provide proof by 9 months old unless her vet recommended against it for health issue (and that must be in writing by the vet). She already knew me so even tho she didn't ask a LOT of questions.. I provided her with about an 8 page print out of different facts about everything from feeding to health care, to shots, to potty training, to grooming, to crate training, to agility, obedience training and other classes she might be interested in. I provided her with his shot and full veteranarian records and all of his AKC paperwork ready to be sent in (on limited reg., of course). I required here to read and sign the contract and we each got a copy. I informed her that if the puppy should ever need to be re-homed that I would be informed first. I also offered a guarantee which would refund the full purchase price AND allow her to keep the puppy if he had a congenital defect or life threatening condition in the first year.
I recieve updated pictures of thew puppy all the time and I really appreciate that. If she ever has a question about his care, she always contacts me first. Of course, I did not make one dime on the puppy... and never expected to... my biggest concern was making sure that he went to a home that would LOVE and APPRECIATE him and spoil him as rotten as he deserved to be. I think I accomplished my mission.
