I would say give him some time he is still very young and should just now be leaving his mommy. My female had about a inch long coat at 12 weeks and my male had maybe a 1/2 in coat at 12 weeks they both have totally different coats Dustees is very thick and his is very thin, Dustee has stayed black with the darker almost red brown and he started to change his color at about 9 weeks turning almost silver with the light tan colors. They both have silky coats but dustees is very thick compared to Sugar Bears. Hope this helps the first pic is sugar bear (thin coat) and the 2nd one is dustee (thick coat)
