How old is he now?
The coat can take a long time to grow in they arn't just born with it.
Sometimes pups are born with a cotten or wirey coat and this dosnt tend to grow quickly, they are not desirable by breeders because the standard coat is silky.
Most good breeders breed to the standard and to better the breed which is why they are not 'desirable'.
But like I said it can take a long time for the dogs coat to grow... how old is the pup?
