I think aslong as you know he dosnt need potty/food then you should leave him in the crate even if he cries.
I know its horrible, I hate the sound of Poppy crying and its so hard not to pick them up... but we need our sleep so we can look after them properly dont we
Just keep in mind when he's crying that its just for attention and he's not hurt, it might take a few more nights but he will eventually know that crying dosnt get him everything he wants
