This is all great advice! My little Gia is doing the same thing. She'll pee on the pads, and I give the "Academy Award" of praising & a treat. Then I know that she'll have to poo in the next 5 minutes, so I wait....

I have my entire hallway lined with pads right now, to give her space to sniff around and choose her location.

Unfortunately, she just wants to get out, and shows no interest in having to go poo... until I let her out, then she finds a nice spot & squats to relieve herself. I try not to get upset, and I pick her up and move her to the pad. (often this leads to "bombs" being dropped as I move her, that I must go back to clean immediately following). I set her on the pads and she just runs off....

Last week she was catching on, and using the pads. I had to go out of town for two nights, so my mom & dad puppy-sat, and unfortunately she didn't stick to the pads at their home, and now she's back to not using them at my home. Even in her "room" at night, she'll pee on the pads, but she'll poo right next to it on the floor.

It is so frustrating - - but I will try the newspaper idea! Maybe she just wants a different texture? Or perhaps she likes the articles (wink)

It's nice to know that this is a common "trait" for yorkies, and my girl isn't alone in this mindset. LOL
