As a groomer/exhibitor/breeder, I've found the safest to trim paw pads and ears is a Whal Peanut. Paw pads should be kept short, not only for the comfort, it hinders the possibility of getting debris attached to the hair. And most of all it keeps them from slipping and sliding on surfaces.
