According to Victoria from "It's Me or the Dog," the best solution is always positive reinforcements. Treats work well. It takes time and training, but what we've started doing, as suggested by Victoria, is to get the dog to focus on you. Hold a treat next to your head and say, "Look at me," or, "Focus." When he/she does, give a treat. You will want to do this before the dog is in the bark situation so he/she learns the command. Again, it takes time, but it is working with my Yorkie and my parent's. |
