I wouldn't hesitate to contact a vet about a potential buyer but keeping in mind I might not find out much due to confidential information but a vet can give some kind of insight to a person's intentions with their animals care. I typically can figure out if they are a good home in taking my time to talk with a buyer over a course of a couple of days ect. I just don't sell a pup to someone I can't speak to for several days and then meet them in person. Sometimes I can tell right away if I want to deal with a particular person. I even ask if a buyer has kids and how young they are...
