Breeder Expectations of New Puppy Owner
· To provide a safe, healthy, happy environment for the new pup
· To secure regular, and timely vet health care
· To train the pup to become a good neighbour – well socialized
· To alert the breeder to any problems they may be having be it, temperament, health, or other issues that affect the pup
· To return the dog to me, if they find themselves in a position that they can no longer care for the dog
· To do the breed specific health tests as agreed to by contract.

Pet Owner Questions of Breeder: Putting this into the prespective of a conversation between two strangers, there is of course, a lot of information that the breeder should be open and transparent with, so that the potential new owner doesn’t have to ask, given this understanding if the breeder has not shared the infor then I would expect the pet owner to:
· Background information on the breeder – how long in breed?,how many breeds do I breed?, references including a vet reference, actively competing with their dogs?, in what areas? Ie show,agility,obedience, rally,member of the breed club in good standing?,member of the CKC?
· What kind of support will I receive from you over the years?
· History and lineage of pup for sale
· Medical History of sire and dam – Incidence of health problems in their lines
· Registries breeder uses to a)register litter and b) for the various genetic tests
· Official registered name of dam and sire with registration numbers
· Does this breed have any unique health and or training needs I should be aware of?
· When do you let your puppies go?
· What is your health guarantee and may I review it?
· How is the breed with children? Other pets – dogs cats
· Has this pup been temperament tested? Results?
· May I see/meet the sire and the dam
· Grooming needs of the dog?
