You hit it right on the head. Coming home from work and hearing about people you know and don't know doing the unthinkable to people, I turn to people who know me and say " and that's why I have so many animals." They are my husband's and my therapy (and my two human kids), and that is no joke.
I've had animals all my life and I can truly say it was my dad who was a kind and gentle man and loved animals, he never turned his back on them. I miss him, but somehow I know he visits the brood now and then.
