I think your rheumatologist will do blood work and test for the Rheumatoid Factor. If it is negative doesn't mean you don't have an arthritic condition. In particular Rhuematoid Arthritis.
Your specialist might test for ANA antibodies. and should take a through case history, as well as an extensive physical examination.
Are your joints swollen as well as aching?
Do you remember flu like symptoms prior to the onset of the aching joints?
Have you noticed any rash on your face or neck? If so what was it like? The color the shape?
Do your aching joints feel less sore at the end of the day?
How long does the stiffness or achiness last in the morning?
These are just a few of the questions the specialist will ask.
