Rhett loves to swim (with a life jacket). But Scarlett can't stand water in any way, shape or form.

I've heard (but can't find any good documentation of it) that dogs in pools can throw off the chemical balance.

Also, because yorkies have hair and not fur, the chlorine can discolor the coat some. Wetting hair down first helps keep it from absorbing as much of the chlorine filled water.
