I did the same thing to my kitty cat one time. Just a little snip. My new rule is to never ever cut where I can't see between the skin and the mat. Bad mats can pull the skin up into the mat, so it's really risky to cut blindly into the mat. I'll have to try the comb thing... I can see kitty now running through the house with a comb stuck in his fur! Got to be better than cutting him!
