And some people do not realize just how big New York is, but Rochester is like 7 hours away from NYC - not close at all. I got my first yorkie from a breeder in Queens. I don't think she's breeding anymore but you may want to take a look. Her name is Judy and her website was www.spoiledrottenyorkies.com. Although New York has everything you can imagine - yorkies (other than the ones you can get from a puppy store - which I would never) are very few. Good luck in your search. |
I live in the state of NY so I am familiar with the distance between Rochester and NYC. One of the reasons I recommended this breeder is that the husband travels to NYC and will deliver a puppy to the area if necessary. Quality is what is important, not distance. My sister and I flew to GA to get a puppy from Cindy (aka chattiesmom) for my sister because of her reputation as a quality breeder.
To the OP, you might want to try some of the rescues/shelters like others have suggested if you can't afford a puppy from a breeder. I would also suggest that you have someone available to be with your Yorkie when you are at school or work. I am lucky because my Mom watches Lulu when I am at work. I probably wouldn't be able to have Lulu otherwise.
