Yoni is almost 20 weeks old and still not eating directly from his dish. So, every mealtime, I start off hand-feeding (his favourite), then I can usually get him to eat some off of the floor (not all the time, unfortunately), and then if I'm REALLY lucky, he will eat maybe 5 (maximum) kibbles from the dish. Because of this, I am the only person in my family who will feed him because I don't trust anyone else to. I want to make sure he gets enough food every day! When I ask my dad to feed him, he puts some food in his dish and leaves it there. Hello!? That's not going to get him fed! When we talked to a dog trainer, he was very against hand-feeding, and told us to put his food out for 20 minutes at a time, and if he doesn't eat it, don't give it to him again until the next meal. And keep doing that until he's so hungry that he eats from this dish. Ummm... no thanks. Yoni is a big boy, around 4.2lbs already and very sturdy, but he is still only a puppy... and a living animal! He needs to eat every day! Anyway, is this normal for yorkies? Will he eventually grow out of it??? I'm a little worried because I'm going away for 5 days next Wednesday and leaving Yoni home alone with my dad and sister.
