You need in my opinion both a "kennel" and an Xpen or play pen. The kennel is for transporting your dog, and the play pen, is for when you want to give a bit more freedom, but still keep your dog safe, and also helps for housebreaking.
Now splurges, oh my, you could spend a fortune, on bows, n clothes and all sorts of things.
Get paw pad protector, get very good brushes n combs, a very good detangler, and a good grooming spray. Splurge on high quality shampoos n conditioners, but get trial sizes as your pup will be growing, and the coat needs may change.
