Lucy is 3.8 lbs and we waited until she was about 10 months old prior to spaying here. I was worried, like you, about her small size and the anesthesia. In addition, she also has mild liver issues that the Vet has to consider when administering anesthesia.
I went over the anesthesia protocol with him and some questions that people had provided to me.
Ultimately, she ended up having to have two baby teeth pulled - so that's what spurred me on to do the spay as well.
She did fine! Absolutely do the pre bloodwork.
