I'm sorry that happened to you. I just started the site on 7.31.10, and have run across this myself. Just shake off the bad threads, ignore them or quit following them altogether, and don't let other people's posts bother you. I, too, feel like every time I share a debatable article or ask a question that I have no experience of (no one knows it all), that someone out there is waiting by the computer to pick apart what I say. I don't let it bother me or ruin my mood. Don't let people do that to you either. There are some fabulous people on here, and there are some people who are very opinionated. You have my support, and feel free to PM me if you ever have a question that you feel others won't respond well to (I can't answer everything, but I'll use my resources and do my best to help you, not put you down).
