A breeder will always remove a pair from their breeding program that has produced Leggs Perthes. If they don't they are asking for trouble.
If surgery is performed by an orthopedic surgeon you will not be able to tell that anything was done. The femoral head is reconstructed, the socket is shaved and it put into place with the muscle holding it in place.
