I am not an expert but maybe its more a control issue with him. Maybe he is doing this almost as if to say that he is in charge. I read somewhere that dogs develop dominance issues sometimes and one of the ways they show this is by humping. Maybe you can check with a doggie behavior expert to find out why he's doing this.
